So it’s going to be Joe Biden.
Or not.
Miss Julie says, “But he’s been so quiet. It’s not like him.”
“Exactly,” says I. “Someone in the Obama camp said, ‘Can you just SYFPH for a couple of weeks?’ It proves KO’s point.” I pause for a moment. “I like the pick. He’s the one guy who can call McCain (and Lieberman) on his BS. Think about it: Biden was there when McCain showed up on Day One in the Senate. And Biden had…”
“…the best line of the campaign.” says MJ. “‘A verb, a noun and 9/11.'”
“And can you see him in a debate with Bobby Jindal? He’ll roll right over him.”
“Right. He’d be like…”
“…Lloyd Bentsen. He’ll be all…”
“‘…Governor, you’re no Mahatma Gandhi.'”
Sometimes this blog just writes itself. Or, more accurately, somettimes Miss Julie writes it for me.
P.S. Biden contracts are trading at 16.0 this morning, second only to Bayh’s 27.0.

Biden is too glib (unserious), non-military and unworldly-wise to balance Obama. It should be:
1) Clark
2) Dodd
or
3) Kerry
So it will probably be Biden.
I like Clark too because I believed (unlike many) that he was effective in whacking McCain for his qualifications to be president. He was right and he didn’t back down. However, I’m not sure if he would satisfy the Clinton wing of the party or piss them off further.
As for Dodd, I’m hoping he makes it to Senate Majority Leader — he’d be most effective there.
I don’t favor Kerry as VP because Dems would spend much too much time fighting the traditional media’s narrative that he’s a loser and yesterday’s news. It’s wrong — surprise — but it is what it is.
Agreed it would be a net loss to move Dodd from the Senate to VP. But it’s been suggested that the Majority Leader may go to Hillary as a consolation prize.
Other than the conventional beltway wisdom (i.e., idiocy that passes for wisdom inside the beltway), I just can’t see why Clark isn’t the obvious pick. Instant military cred/wisdom – the guy ran NATO and won a war without a single US casualty, for Christ’s sake – a great liberal partisan, a white southerner from Arkansas, a nod to the Clintons…and if the worst happened I’d sure as shit rather see him as CinC than Evan Bayh or Joe Biden.
I agree about Clark …but not about Hillary and here’s why: I think Senate Majority Leader is too big a prize for consolation purposes. Besides, you have to win it (in a caucus vote!) and I’m not sure Hillary is that popular.
P.S. I corrected my comment above to make it more clear that I was talking about Kerry being a loser in the eyes of the traditional media.
I knew what you meant. OK, Dodd for Majority Leader and Clark for VP. Glad we settled that.
