Mardi Gras 2009

Feb 23rd, 2009 | By Ara Rubyan | Category: About Me

Mardi Gras ends on Tuesday, Feb. 24 so I wanted to post a couple of videos I shot in Baton Rouge and New Orleans over the past weekend.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler! Let The Good Times Roll!

The first one is from the Spanish Town Mardi Gras parade in Baton Rouge. Music is by Chris Kenner doing I Like It Like That.

This other one is from the Thoth Parade in New Orleans. It’s 3+ minutes of good times (and music by Kid Ory’s Creole Jazz Band playing Royal Garden Blues).

  1. Dude, tell the Octo-mom he needs a shave.

What fun. Here, we’re celebrating by clunking down 6 bucks for a half-dozen for these dense, jelly filled doughnut thingies that double as ballast on the Lake Erie ice-breakers — and we cry cuz the girls refuse to take off their tops even if we throw them a woolen scarf.

Winter … that which does not kill us … let’s us appreciate the spring all the more as we curse the fucking snow.

But if I lived in the South, I’d have no excuse for sitting inside watching intertube videos the way God and Ara intended them t be seen. Shit, I’d still be on dial-up. I’d probably have to break down and buy an i-Berry or something.

  2. Ah, pączeki!

As for Octo-Mom, he did shave his beard…and his legs, too. Scary!

And God help us if you ever buy a crackberry or an iphone. — there’ll be no stopping you!

    Go for it!

  3. Damn, I usually need a couple of Hurricanes to get that dizzy.

  4. Shep: Someone said it looked like Mardi Gras on crack.

Mark: “I’d have no excuse for sitting inside watching intertube videos the way God and Ara intended them t be seen.” I hope that’s the last time my name is mentioned in the same sentence as God’s — at least until my funeral.
