Maddow: “The last time any president did this much in office, booze was illegal.” (VIDEO)
Success, in my dictionary, is defined as “steady progress toward a worthy goal.” Doesn’t mention how fast it happens — just “steady progress.”
I guess you could also say that I believe that the root word of progressive is “progress” in the sense of “progress toward a worthy goal.”
So by any measure, Barack Obama is a successful progressive president. You can argue, as many have, that there are many promises so far unkept, e.g., repealing DADT, closing Guantanamo, etc. But by and large, I can’t think of another politician who would have done better in the same circumstances.
I’m glad I voted for him and will gladly vote for him again.
And not only that: I will vote to keep the Dems in power because I know that if the Republican wrecking crew gains back the House or Senate, they’ll just go after him and everything he’s accomplished so far. Can’t have that.
Rachel Maddow:
The list of legislative accomplishments of [President Obama] in half a term — even before energy reform which he`s probably going to get to — is, to quote the vice president, “a big freaking deal.” Love this administration or hate it, this president is getting a lot done.
The last time any president did this much in office, booze was illegal. If you believe in policy, if you believe in government that addresses problems, cheers to that.
